Solutions:

Q1 – OPTION — C
Solution : 600*[11/20] : 500*[16/25] = 33:32

Q2 – OPTION — B
Solution : [480+330] : [180+260] = 81:44

Q3 – OPTION — E
Solution : [140+180+90+260+180+40]/6 = 148.33 tons

Q4 – OPTION — B
Solution : [480+220+330]/3 = 343.33 tons

Q5 – OPTION — E
Solution : [180/480]*100 = 37.5%

Q6 – OPTION — E
Solution : Distance covered by 1st train in 4 hours = 80*4 = 320 km
Relative speed of 2nd train = 120-80 = 40 km
It will overtake another train in 320/40 = 8 hours
Distance between overtake point and station Delhi = 8*120 = 960 km

Q7 – OPTION — A
Solutions : Let number of girls be x.
Each contributed = 8x
Total contribution = 8×2= 6272 ⇒ x2 = 784 ⇒ x = 28

Q8 – OPTION — D
Solution : From 1 —>
18×2 + 18x + 4 = 0
9×2 + 9x + 2 = 0
9×2 + 6x + 3x + 2 = 0
3x (3x + 2) + 1 (3x + 2) = 0
(3x + 1) (3x + 2) = 0
∴x = – 1/3 or –2/3
From 2 —->
12y2 + 29y + 14 = 0
12y2 + 21y + 8y + 14 = 0
3y(4y + 7) + 2(4y + 7) = 0
(3y + 2) (4y + 7) = 0
∴y = –2/3 or –7/4
Clearly x ≥ y

Q9 – OPTION — A
Solution : From 1 —–>
17×2 + 48x – 9 = 0
17×2 + 51x – 3x – 9 = 0
17x (x + 3) – 3 (x + 3) = 0
(x + 3) (17x – 3) = 0
∴x = –3 or 3/17
From 2 —->
13y2 – 32y + 12 = 0
13y2– 26y – 6y + 12 = 0
13y(y – 2) –6 (y – 2) = 0
(y – 2) (13y –6) = 0
∴y = 2 or 6/13
Clearly, x < y

Q10 – OPTION — E
Solution : 17*0.5 + 0.5 = 9
9*1 + 1 = 10
10*1.5 + 1.5 = 16.5
16.5*2 + 2 = 35
