Answers with Solutions:

Q1. (a) 60 km/h
Speed of the train = 200+400/36 = 600/36 = 50/3 m/s
Thus, 50/3 x 18/5 = 60 km/hr

Q2. (c) 4 days
Suppose A does work a work in x days
B does similar work in x/2 days and C does in x/4 days
x/4 = 7/1
x = 28
So, 1/28 + 1/14 + 1/7 = 1/4

Q3. (d) 120
There are five letters in the word DAILY
Req number of ways = 5P5 = 5! = 120

Q4. (b) 92
Suppose the number is 10x + y
So, (10x + y) – (10y + x) = 63
x – y = 7
and x + y = 11
Solving both we get, x = 9 and y = 2
So, the req number = 92

Q5. (d) 10/13
Suppose the fraction is x/y
So, x + 2x / y + 3y = 15/26
x / y = 10 / 13

Q6. (c) Rs. 945
The cost price of the aricle = 996 + 894 / 2 = Rs. 945

Q7. (d) 3 years
Suppose the ages of Nishi and Vinnee are 6x and 5x yr.
So, 6x + 9 / 5x + 9 = 9 / 8
x = 3
Req diff = 6x – 5x = 3 years

Q8. (e) Rs. 34013.95
Rate per annum = 30240*100/84000*3 = 12%
CI = 84000[(1 + 12/100)³ – 1]
= Rs. 34013.95

Q9. (c) 14 years
Avg age of the remaining girls = [1050 – (25 x 12 + 25 x 16)]/25 = 14 years
Q10. (2) 275.4
Suppose the number is x
x * 1/5 = 81
x = 405
then, x * 68/100 = 405 * 68/100 = 275.4

Q11. (b) 400
Total number = 40 x 40*20/100 + 8 x 40*25/100 = 400

Q12. (a) 441
35/100 x 45/100 x 7/9 x 3600  = 441

Q13. (c) 9/10
Req Probability = 2C1 x 3C2 + 2C2 x 3C1 / 5C3 = 9/10

Q14. (e) 5
495 x 4/9 – 516 x 5/12 = 220 – 215 = 5

Q15. (a) 211344
Suppose, the monthly salary of Ms. Winkey is x rupees.
x * 11/100 = 5236
x = 47600
Total annual amount invested by Ms. Winkey = 47600(11/100 + 19/100 + 7/100) x 12 = 211344
