Solutions: ▼
Solutions for Q(1 – 5): The correct sequence is BCEDA. Statement (B) fits in the beginning of the paragraph because it introduces the subject ‘government’s decision to give more leverage to the private sector’. BCE is a mandatory sequence. ‘Those industries’ in (C) refer to the ‘industries’ mentioned in (B). Also, (C) explains what kind of industries comprise those ‘reserved for the unrestricted sector’ mentioned in (B). (E) begins with a connector ‘this’, which refers to ‘governments decision’ in (B) and continues the argument from (B) by talking about the impact of ‘this decision’. Further, DA is a mandatory pair. Statement (A) talks about ‘this scrutiny’ that refers to the ‘analysis’ in (D).
Ans.6. 2; The error is in part (2) of the sentence. The correct answer is ‘comply with’. ‘Compliance’ is a noun, while we require a verb here i.e. ‘comply’.
Ans.7. 4; The error is in part (4) of the sentence. The correct answer is ‘played between’. Between applies to reciprocal arrangement while among applies to collective arrangement. In the given context, the two teams are opponents of each other.
Ans.8. 1; The error is in part (1) of the sentence. The correct answer is ‘damaged’.
Ans.9. 2; The error is in part (2) of the sentence. The use of ‘of the’ is redundant. The correct usage is ‘many letters’.
Ans.10. 3; The error is in part (3) of the sentence. The correct answer is ‘talking’.
